A Pom Pom wreath is a quick and easy decoration you can use again and again for many Christmases to come! Why not invite a few friends over and make Pom Poms together over some hot chocolate and mince pies.
You will need:
- Pom Pom maker
- Wool in various colours
- A polystrene wreath (we used this one from Hobbycraft)
Step 1: Open one end of your Pom Pom maker and start wrapping the wool around it
Step 2: Work back to the outer end, close the Pom Pom maker and then open the other side and start wrapping the wool round this side
Step 3: Once you have wrapped wool round the whole maker you can cut the end
Step 4: Using a pair of sharp scissors start cutting down the middle of the wool on each side
Step 5: Cut the whole way round the maker (it should look like this)
Step 6: Take a piece of wool and pull up through the middle of the Pom Pom maker and knot tightly twice
Step 7: Carefully pull apart the two pieces of the maker
Step 8: Fluff up your Pom Pom and trim any uneven ends
Step 9: Tie the Pom Poms round the wreath and make sure they are tightly pushed into one another so that the shape holds
You can play around with pattern by wrapping different colours round each side or by combining 2 or 3 different colours for a striped effect.
